Geist is a nail-biting strategy game that's as goofy as it is ghoulish. The town of Styxville is being tormented by 13 Geists (ghosts, souls, spirits) who have escaped from the UnderWorld and taken over the cemetery. You are a bounty hunter who must capture them and take them back to the UnderWorld. Each Geist has a unique lure and prank. Collect Zb chips to lure them in, then land on their Headstone to capture them. Once captured, you can use the Geist to play pranks on your opponents! Be the first to deliver all your Geists to the UnderWorld and you'll win the game. Don't forget to stock up on ChiliPeppers - the Geists hate those! Game comes with 1 Game Board, 27 Geist cards, 37 Chili Pepper Cards, 13 Headstone Labels, 117 Zb Chips, 5 Geist Hunter Pawns, 1 Die, Quick Intro, Game Rules, and Hunter Biographies. For 2 - 5 Players, Ages 10 and Up.

Geist = Math + Fun!
I first played Geist at Games Day '04, and I immediatly fell in love with it. The design is simply ingenious, making you plot your moves out several turns in advance instead of simply relying on a die roll. I found the pranks and chili pepper cards add a good bit of interaction to the game, keeping it from seeming like a five way solitaire match. The only complaint I'd make is that the player pawns look too similar to each other from some angles. I'd at least have colored the bases differently. Outside of that, the game is excellent, and I'd reccomend it to anyone who enjoys math.

Lots of fun. A must Play
The abstract design of Geist with the silver hunters took my attention in Essen this year. After a short introduction into the game we took seat and fell deep in the graves of GEIST. Somewhat tactics but a whole lot of fun makes the game outstanding and my favourite among hundreds of new games presented this year.< You need a lot of luck (not by the dice but by "lucky players") to get your ghosts in safety. What do I mean about tactics? The ghost-cards show the worth you have to collect to play a geist from your hand in front of you. But as you collect the exact amount, players can assume your ghost and mayl prank you. To prank someone one's more you can play the action of your played ghosts or - collect tokens, where you sometimes find a pepper and play pepper cards against your opponents. This combination of tactics and fun is seldom to find among boardgames. I know some, but they didn't work. Geist is an outstanding game not only for families, but also for players who just want to have a funny but no simple game. I hope that all goes well and Geist can be found in Germany as well. Here are - surely - a lot of ghost hunters, who cannot wait to catch them. Note: As the ghosts can be placed anywhere on the board, each game is different. They're made of a kind of stickers, which can be surely removed and replaced again anywhere on the board. I ask myself, why this idea is not used more often.
