Most word games just allow you to build words across and down. But with Upwords, you can build words in three directions: across, down, and even upwards. You can stack letters on top of letters already on the board, changing existing words into new ones. Score points for each letter in your word and extra points for every tile under each letter. It is challenging and addictive.
It is an excellent game for youngsters to learn spelling and word associations. My neighbor and I can get lost in this game for hours. Each game is a challenge against yourself to improve with each game. We are addicted to it and devote one or two mornings a week to Upwords sessions.

UpWords is now a part of our Friday-nite ladies-nite word games.
Three of us play word-games every Friday night, and now UpWords is one of the 3 games we play every week. We love it, and play both the early version AND the new one with a bigger board and more letters. We have modified the newer one by scraping off two "U"s and making them blanks, which really adds to the fun.

My sister and I are totally addicted to this game.
The first day I bought this game my sister played it three times and the next day we played five times. My spelling is improving because of Up Words. Where was this game when I was a kid??? I just love it.

a favorite!
We started out with the newer game but discovered that for two of us the older, smaller game was quicker. We still play the larger game when we play with four but every night is the game for two with a glass of wine. Sure gets my husband's mind off of work!! Family tradition now with my older parents!

good game
This is a good game but could be better. A bigger board for one. Thought the game goes up it still seems to be lacking for some space. Doesn't seem to give you the advantage of coming up with some really big and different words. Overall, I give this game a B!

Upwords is the best game ever invented
At first glance, upwords seems simple. After thoroughly examining the game, there is more to it than meets the eye. It is a game, in which mastering it is not possible. That is why this game will never get old. I found that this not only uses your knowledge of vocabulary, but it uses your math skills. It challenges your thought process and logic skills. A true game for the ages!

Great Strategic Word Game
Upwords combines strategy and vocabulary in a great way. Words already on the gameboard can be built upon, since tiles can be stacked up to 5 high (1 new level per turn). CORE can become SCOUT by building atop the R and the E, and adding an S. Higher stackes equal higher word scores. The whole board pretty much remains available to all players throughout the game. It plays great and it is amazing how differently it works out each game. Strategy meets vocabulary. Excellent.
