When I first put the puppy dog together, I was able to methodically and logically assemble all pieces of the dog. I had the entire dog put together somewhere between 45 minutes to an hour, but the real "fun" had just begun. There are 2 rods, one longer than the other, that is used to secure the dog's posterior from the ground to his upper back and from the chest through the dog's head. After experimenting for a half-hour, I realized that the longer rod actually goes from the chest through the head and the shorter rod goes from the ground through upper back. The longer rod was a cinch to insert. However, I cannot push the shorter rod in for the life of me. There is a piece in the puzzle near where both rods are supposed to be inserted that only takes the shorter rod, but the way that you have to insert it is ridiculous. There are threads on this piece and once you insert the short rod, you have to screw it in for a quarter inch and then push the rod through the rest of the dog until it touches the ground on the dog's posterior. However, it is next to impossible to push the rod through once it has gone through the thread. I've even taken a couple pairs of needle-nose pliers and tried twisting the rod through to no avail. Maybe I got a defective piece here, but I'd like to be able to finish a puzzle that is 99% complete. My only task left on this puzzle is securing the pieces with the 2 rods. I will probably take this piece (and the short rod) to work just so I can dremel out the threads. If not for the threads I'd be able to insert the short rod completely through without a problem. So I'll have to deduct 1.5 stars on the overall rating for all this trouble. The short rod should go through the dog's posterior without any problems, just like the longer rod. Once I'm able to secure the 2 rods, the dog should be very durable. If I drop him on the floor, I would not expect him to fly into a million (okay 40) pieces. On the other hand, the 2 pieces that make up the dog's ears are easily inserted into his head. They come out very easily also. So I think it would be best to use superglue to secure the ears in place. I won't even attempt using superglue until I can secure the rest of the dog together with the 2 rods, as described in the previous paragraph. This is a minor flaw, so I'll deduct only a half star for this. Other than these 2 problems, this is a very fun and methodical puzzle to put together and gets your brain to think in a logical manner. And you get something physical to show for your work once it's completed! The puzzle even comes with a bowl for the dog's water!

This was my 1st puzzle. I will be doing more. I want to collect and do all of them. Love it. I had no problems with putting the rods in. can't wait to get my next one.

Not That Difficult !
I had a little trouble putting the rods in... but not so much trouble that I had to mess with the rods to make them go in. It was more like which end does which rod go into ? And one of the rods was a little stubborn about going in... but I got it... with a little help from my Husband. He's good at figuring out what the problem is with these puzzles. And most of my problem could just be burrs that stick out from when the pieces were created from the molding. The burrs just needed to be filed down a bit. Other than that, I was able to complete this one without any other problems. I am a dog Lover so I had fun with this one, regardless. And I LOVE that there is a water bowl that comes with this dog. How Cute ! This was my 3rd puzzle. I had already previously assembled and completed the red apple and the blue sapphire... about 4 years prior to doing this one. I Love these puzzles... they are so much fun !!
